It was possibly the hottest day Perthshire has enjoyed for decades, so we made the most of it... we found ourselves melting in Murthly, boiling in Bankfoot and roasting in Redgorton as we distributed several hundred Good News Postcards!
We also stumbled across a small area of houses called 'Nineveh' on the outskirts of Murthly which caught our attention! Nineveh was of course a very significant city in Bible times and was located near modern day Mosul, in Iraq. The prophet Jonah was sent to Nineveh to warn the people that if they continued to disobey God they would face His judgement. Jonah refused to go first of all, but after a dramatic detour which involved being swallowed by a great fish, he eventually made his way to Nineveh. The people of the city heeded the warning and turned from their wicked ways and so the city was spared. The message of God for us today is similar - if we continue to disobey God we will face His judgement, however because God loves us and sent His Son to die for our wrongdoings on the cross, if we are willing to turn from our wicked ways and trust in Jesus Christ, God promises to spare us (and more than that, bless us with a home in Heaven!)
