Another village where we've been distributing copies of The Signpost magazine is Abernethy.
Abernethy was home to Mr Isaac Ewan who became a Christian while serving as a soldier in WW1. He was associated with a small church in the village and travelled widely throughout the British Isles preaching and teaching prior to his death in 1968. He wrote many poems and hymns which have been published in several books. Below are a couple of them which are particularly thought-provoking.

We started to distribute our magazine, The Signpost, in Bridge of Earn this week.
For several years now we've held a well-attended Christmas Carol Service in the village - I wonder if it'll be possible this year? It was nice to bump into a few familiar faces on our rounds, and also to see this wooden cross. The cross is at the centre of the good news that we love to share... "He (Jesus) Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness." 1 Peter 2:24 We've been really missing our monthly visits to several care homes across the city and beyond during the COVID crisis, but have continued to pray for the staff and residents throughout.
It was lovely to receive some nice feedback from our friends at Glenhelenbank Care Home in Luncarty today after they watched a short service we recorded onto DVD for them. |
